Specifically, you do not get an estimate of the average marginal effect (AME) in the population that was sample from. You get an estimate in the people sampled.

I wonder if this argument implicitly assumes the sample is a random sample from the population. That is often not the case, and when it’s not the case I think the conclusion may not apply.
