How to evolve Eevee into Flareon with a Fire Stone

Flareon has only one path. You cannot reach it by leveling up, trading, or raising friendship. You must use a Fire Stone on an Eevee, and that single action triggers the evolution instantly.

Step 1: Add an Eevee to your party or have one ready in your boxes. Eevee itself is a Normal-type and shares this base form with all eight evolutions.

Step 2: Obtain a Fire Stone. The fastest source changes from game to game, so use the table below to find the closest option in your version.

Step 3: Open your Bag, select the Fire Stone, and use it on Eevee. The evolution animation plays immediately, and Eevee becomes Flareon. You will know it worked when the Pokédex registers Flareon and it learns Ember on evolving.

Note: A Fire Stone always produces Flareon. If you instead want Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, or Sylveon, do not use the stone, since those forms rely on friendship, location, or move conditions.

Flareon's signature trait is its 130 base Attack, which is unusually high for a Pokémon best known for special Fire moves. Its bulk is split, with low Defense and a strong Special Defense of 110.

In most mainline games, the only way to get Flareon is to evolve your own Eevee. A handful of titles let you encounter or trade for it directly, and the Legends games hide it behind special spawns.

Catching Flareon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Flareon cannot be caught in the open world of the Hisui region. It only appears inside Space-Time Distortions, the purple domes that spawn at random on the Crimson Mirelands and Cobalt Coastlands maps. Enter a Distortion, ride around to spawn Pokémon, and throw a Great Ball or Ultra Ball at Flareon once it appears. If it does not show up, leave and wait for the next Distortion.

In Pokémon GO, Flareon is a budget Fire attacker with an attack-heavy spread of 246 ATK, 179 DEF, and 163 HP. Its maximum Combat Power reaches 3424 CP at level 50, and its encounters are boosted in sunny weather.

For raids, Fire Spin paired with Overheat gives Flareon its fastest damage output, and the constant supply of Eevee candy makes it an easy Fire attacker to power up early on. It is far weaker as a gym defender, where its thin bulk and common Ground-type counters drop it to the bottom tier.
