Forza Horizon 6 PS5 Release Date: What Microsoft Has Confirmed

All Things How May 25, 2026
Source

Forza Horizon 6 is already out on Xbox Series X|S and PC, but PlayStation 5 owners are still locked out of the Horizon Festival in Japan. Microsoft has confirmed the game is coming to Sony's console, just not on the same timeline as the Xbox and PC editions.

Quick answer: Forza Horizon 6 launches on PS5 "later in 2026." No specific date or month has been confirmed by Microsoft or Playground Games.

The PS5 version was announced during the Xbox Developer Direct in January 2026. The only window given was "later in 2026," with the date expected to be revealed at a future showcase such as a PlayStation State of Play.

What Microsoft has actually said about the PS5 version

During the January 22, 2026, Xbox Developer Direct, Playground Games confirmed Forza Horizon 6 for PlayStation 5 alongside the Xbox Series X|S and PC release. The exact phrasing was that the PS5 edition would arrive "later in 2026." No month, quarter, or season was attached to it.

Xbox Game Studios head Craig Duncan has acknowledged that the company's multiplatform rollout has been uneven, saying some games launch in one place and others in multiple places, and that the team is trying to be more consistent going forward. That inconsistency is why Forza Horizon 6 is not a day-and-date multiplatform release like Gears of War Reloaded was in 2025.

Forza Horizon 6 release dates by platform

Platform Edition Release date
Xbox Series X S, PC Premium Edition (early access)
Xbox Series X S, PC Standard / Deluxe
PlayStation 5 All editions Later in 2026 (date not confirmed)

The Xbox and PC versions are also available on day one through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. The PS5 version's pricing, edition structure, and Game Pass-style availability have not been detailed.

How long the wait could be

With the Xbox and PC launch on May 19, 2026, and the PS5 release confirmed only for sometime within 2026, the absolute maximum gap is roughly seven months, ending on December 31, 2026. A release on the final day of the year is unlikely in practice, so the realistic wait is shorter than that ceiling.

For reference, Forza Horizon 5 launched on Xbox and PC in November 2021 and did not arrive on PS5 until April 2025, a gap of more than three years. That delay was tied to Microsoft only publicly committing to a broader multiplatform strategy in early 2024. Forza Horizon 6 is being treated very differently, with PS5 support announced before the game even launched on Xbox.

How to track the PS5 release date

There is no official PS5 release date listed on the PlayStation Store yet, only a product page where PS5 owners can add the game to their wishlist. Any concrete date is most likely to be announced through a PlayStation State of Play broadcast or an Xbox Wire update from Microsoft.

Wishlist on PlayStation Store

You will know the PS5 version is officially dated when the PlayStation Store listing updates from a wishlist-only page to a pre-order page with a visible release date, or when Microsoft publishes a dated announcement on Xbox Wire.

What the PS5 version will include

Playground Games has not detailed any PS5-exclusive features, but the core game on PlayStation 5 is expected to match the Xbox and PC release in content. That includes:

  • An open-world map set in a stylized version of Japan, with Tokyo as the central city.
  • Over 550 real-world cars at launch, including JDM classics and aftermarket builds.
  • The Horizon Festival progression with wristband tiers and Legend Island endgame content.
  • Customizable garages, eight purchasable homes, and the Valley Estate property.
  • Multiplayer features, including Car Meets, Touge Battles, The Eliminator, and the CoLab multiplayer build toolset.

Cross-play and cross-progression between PS5 and the Xbox and PC versions have not been confirmed.

Until Microsoft or Sony shares a firm date, the only reliable information for PS5 players is the "later in 2026" window from the Developer Direct. Anything more specific circulating right now is unofficial, and the actual date will surface through a State of Play or an Xbox announcement rather than store listings or community leaks.
