Fortnite Shattered Live Event: Start Time, Faction Split, and How to Get In

All Things How May 25, 2026

Fortnite's Chapter 7 Season 2 wraps up with Shattered, a one-time live event that branches based on which faction you picked during the Showdown Rivalries. Epic Games confirmed the name, date, and a key twist on May 23, 2026: the finale isn't a single shared cinematic. Team Ice King and Team Foundation see different versions of how the fight for the Zero Point plays out.

Quick answer: Shattered starts Friday, June 5, 2026 at 7 PM ET (4 PM PT). The event playlist opens at 6:20 PM ET so you can queue early.

Shattered start times by region

The event begins simultaneously worldwide, so the local time depends on your timezone. Doors open 40 minutes before the fight starts, which is when you need to be in the queue to avoid getting locked out.

Why the faction split matters

Fortnite live event finales usually run on a fixed script. Every player on every server watches the same sequence of explosions, character moments, and map changes in the same order. Shattered breaks that pattern. The team you locked in at the start of Chapter 7 Season 2, during the Showdown Rivalries, changes what you actually see during the event.

A Team Ice King player and a Team Foundation player sitting in the same Discord call will be looking at two different versions of the same fight. Epic has not detailed which scenes diverge or by how much, but the promotional line is direct: "Your Team Changes Your Experience." The conflict centers on control of the Zero Point, with characters tied to each faction expected to take the spotlight.

How to get into the event

Major Fortnite finales draw enormous concurrent player counts, and the servers get rough. Queues stack up in the final 20 minutes before showtime, and players who wait until 6:59 PM ET often end up watching on a stream instead of in-game. The fix is simple: be in a match before the doors open.

Step 1: Launch Fortnite at least 15 minutes before doors open, which means before 6:20 PM ET (or 3:20 PM PT). Make sure the client is fully updated to the latest patch beforehand.

Step 2: Open the Discover menu and look for the dedicated Shattered playlist. Epic typically publishes a specific event mode separate from standard Battle Royale; that is the one you want.

Step 3: Queue into the Shattered playlist and stay in the lobby. Do not back out to swap skins or check the item shop, since rejoining the queue puts you at the back of the line.

Step 4: Wait for 7 PM ET. The event will begin automatically once you are loaded into the event instance. You will know it worked when the pre-event environment loads instead of a regular match.

⚠️

If you are not loaded in by the time the fight starts, the playlist often locks new entries. Logging in early is the only reliable way around it.

What happens after Shattered

Shattered is billed as the epilogue for Chapter 7 Season 2, bridging directly into Chapter 7 Season 3. The Foundation versus Ice King rivalry has driven the entire season's narrative, and the finale resolves who controls the Zero Point. Story reveals during the event are expected to set the theme of the next season, including how the Dark Voyager fits into the broader arc.

The Showdown Rivalries themselves also resolve here. The winning faction across the season determines the final variant of the chapter-end skin reward that everyone with the Battle Pass receives, regardless of which side they picked.

If you miss the live broadcast, Shattered is a one-time event. There is no scheduled replay inside the game, so plan around the June 5 window if you want to see it firsthand.
