Re:Rangers X Evolution Items - Full Crafting and Drop Guide
Evolution materials are the bottleneck for almost every strong unit in Re:Rangers X. You can summon a Mythic and grind it to max level, but its final form stays locked until you collect a specific item, sometimes paired with takedown counts and a heap of gold. The materials come from four main pipelines: shop currencies, raid drops, story stage drops, and crafting recipes built from raw resources.

How evolution works in Re:Rangers X
Evolution is permanent. Once you spend the gold and the material, the unit transforms into its evolved form, and the resources are gone. Head to the Upgrade Zone in the lobby and talk to Hollow behind the counter to see which units you own can evolve and what they need. Most evolutions cost 15,000 gold, though Secret-tier transformations like Bunny (Full Moon) push that to 50,000.
Some evolutions also gate behind a takedown requirement, meaning the base unit has to defeat a set number of enemies while equipped before the option unlocks. Sukuna needs 200 takedowns, Okkotsu Yuta needs 150, and One Arm Pirate needs 250, then 400 across its two stages.
Shop-based evo items
Several materials are bought outright with currency earned from specific game modes. The Invasion Shop covers most One Piece units, the Trash Shop sells the Jankei trio, and the Calamity Shop holds the harder-to-farm cursed items. Raid Shop purchases use Cursed Scrolls or Cursed Essences, depending on the item.

Cursed Essences and Cursed Scrolls both come from raid completions, with rewards scaling by difficulty. A Nightmare raid run typically pays 7 to 10 Cursed Essences, Hard pays 5 to 7, and Normal pays 2 to 3.

A handful of evo items only fall from specific stages. These are pure RNG drops, so expect repeat runs.

Crafted evo items
Most high-tier evolutions, especially anything pushing a unit toward Secret rarity, get crafted at the Crafting NPC in the Upgrade Zone. Recipes lean on Ranger Crystals plus theme-specific resources like Narmekian Crystal for Saiyans, Chakra Shards for Naruto units, and Kakuja Mask Shards for Tokyo Ghoul characters.

Where raw materials come from
Crafting recipes pull from a pool of raw resources that drop across the game's modes. Knowing which mode feeds which material saves a lot of wasted runs.

Verifying an evolution worked
When you evolve a unit, the upgrade screen swaps the unit's portrait, name, and rarity color immediately. The new form shows up in your inventory under its evolved name (for example, Sukuna becomes Curse King (Shrine), Kirito becomes Virtual Swordsman (Stardust)). If the option is greyed out at Hollow's counter, one of three things is missing: the takedown count, the gold, or a specific item in your inventory. Hover the lock icon to see which.

Evolution is irreversible. Burning rare materials on a Rare or Epic unit only gets you to Legendary, which you can usually pull from summons. Save Karmib Daggers, Virtual Swords, Vampire Mask, Promise Ring, King's Shrine, and similar Mythic-tier items for the units that actually shape the meta.

Priority order for spending materials
If you only have enough resources for one or two evolutions, the highest-impact targets right now are King of Shadows into Shadow Monarch (Karmib Daggers), Kirito into Virtual Swordsman Stardust (Virtual Swords), Vampire Emperor into the Heaven form (Vampire Mask), Sukuna into Curse King Shrine (King's Shrine + Fingers + Demon Fang Shards), and One Arm Pirate into the Emperor form (Straw Hat, Rubber Pirates, Conqueror's Sword). These transformations push their base units into the top tier of clear speed and boss damage.
Lower-priority crafts like Turbo Statue (Otaku) and Golden Cloud (Saiyan Warrior) can wait. The base versions are easily replaced by summons, and the evolved forms cap at Legendary rather than pushing into Mythic or Secret rarity.
New evolution items get added with each major content drop, so the recipe pool keeps expanding. Keep raw materials like Ranger Crystals, Soul Cores, and the Universe shard set in reserve since they show up in nearly every new recipe.
