Arboris Saber location in Windrose (Cursed Swamp loot guide)

All Things How April 28, 2026
Source

The Arboris Saber is a Rare one-handed melee weapon in Windrose that breaks the saber mold by dealing Crude damage and scaling with Strength rather than Agility. It drops from Old Skeletons inside ruin-type points of interest in the Cursed Swamp biome, and once looted, it becomes craftable at the Weaponsmith Workshop.

⚔️

Quick answer: Travel to the Cursed Swamp biome and loot Old Skeletons inside Ruin with a Flowerbed, Crypt, or Tainted Ruins POIs. The saber has a small drop chance per skeleton, so expect to clear several.

Where the Arboris Saber drops

The weapon is tied to the Cursed Swamp biome and only appears on Old Skeleton loot tables inside specific ruin POIs. Because Windrose generates each world procedurally, there is no fixed coordinate. The reliable way to find it is to look for ruin icons on the swamp map and check Old Skeletons in those structures.

Some ruin POIs sit at Provisioner locations, marked on the map by a three-stalks-of-wheat icon over a yellow shield. Inside, a thick wall of vines may block off a back chamber. Break through it, and the Old Skeleton holding the saber is on the other side, often with a small Guinea payout next to the corpse.

POI (Cursed Swamp) Source Approx. drop chance
Ruin with a Flowerbed Old Skeleton 5–10%
Crypt Old Skeleton 5%
Tainted Ruins Old Skeleton 5%

Expect Plague Thralls, Plague Witches, and other Plague-aligned enemies in and around these ruins. Clear them first so you are not interrupted while looting. There is also fertile soil near several of these locations, useful if you are gathering on the same trip.

How to confirm you got it

Open the Old Skeleton's loot window and take the Arboris Saber. Once it enters your inventory, the recipe unlocks at the Weaponsmith Workshop, meaning you can craft additional copies from raw materials instead of farming again.

If the skeleton drops only generic loot, the weapon did not roll on that container. Move to the next ruin POI and try another Old Skeleton. The drop is per-skeleton and not guaranteed.

Stats and combat behavior

At Rare quality, the Arboris Saber deals 215 Crude damage and scales with Strength at C tier. Hits build Plague Echoes stacks. At 5 stacks, the F special attack becomes available and releases an AoE burst around you. Because it is one-handed, swapping to a pistol does not reset your stacks, which is a meaningful advantage over the two-handed Plague Halberd.

At Epic, Strength scaling moves up to B tier, and the weapon gains a passive that makes its hits more efficient at converting Temporal Health into permanent Health, helping you sustain through longer fights.

Property Rare Epic (Ascended)
Damage 215 Crude 215 Crude
Scaling Strength (C) Strength (B)
Special (F) AoE burst at 5 Plague Echoes AoE burst at 5 Plague Echoes
Extra passive Improved Temporal Health → Health conversion on hit

Crafting and upgrade costs

After the first pickup, the saber appears in the Weaponsmith Workshop crafting list. Base craft requires 3 Copper Ingot, 2 Rough Hide, and 5 Ingot Arborum. Ingot Arborum is the gating material; it comes from refining drops tied to plant-type enemies and advanced crafting stations.

Upgrade tier Materials
Level 1–5 3x Copper Ingot, 2x Rough Hide, 5x Ingot Arborum
Level 6–10 3x Foothills Iron Ingot, 2x Rough Hide, 8x Ingot Arborum, 3x Smithing Flux
Level 11–15 3x Mire Metal Ingot, 2x Crocodile Hide, 8x Ingot Arborum, 3x Smithing Flux
Ascend (Rare → Epic) 1x Arboris Saber (Rare), 7x Tumbaga Ingot (Level 3 Weaponsmith Workshop required)

Ascension is the meaningful power jump. It unlocks the third passive and bumps Strength scaling from C to B, so save your Tumbaga Ingots for the saber you actually plan to keep.

Build pairing

Because the saber deals Crude damage and scales with Strength, it slots cleanly alongside Strength weapons such as Clubs and Halberds rather than the Agility-based saber and rapier kits. The Plague Echoes special itself does not scale with Strength, so talents that boost melee damage and combo output are the priority.

Slot Recommended pick Why
Armor set Flibustier (4-piece) −20% stamina cost on attacks (2/2), +15% one-handed weapon damage (4/4)
Necklace Necklace of Strength +10 Strength feeds the C/B scaling
Ring Major Ring of Bravery +8% melee weapon damage
Talents Quick Strikes, Duelist, Deadly Finale Raise base hit damage and special attack output
Off-hand Pistol Swapping does not consume Plague Echoes stacks

Why drops sometimes feel slow

Two things make the hunt feel longer than expected. First, the per-skeleton roll is small, so a single ruin clear can come up empty even when the POI type is correct. Second, procedural generation means the swamp layout differs between worlds, so a marker that worked in another save will not match yours. Stick to the POI type rather than chasing a specific spot, and rotate between Ruin with a Flowerbed, Crypt, and Tainted Ruins until it drops.

Once it lands in your inventory, the saber is permanently craftable, and the only remaining hurdle is gathering enough Ingot Arborum and Tumbaga Ingots to push it through Ascension.
