Oregon Legislature changes allocation of how local governments can use the lodging taxes they levy

The 2026 Legislature has passed House Bill 4148 to reduce the share of transient lodging taxes that must be used for tourism promotion or tourism-related facilities from 70 percent to 50 percent and let cities and counties use up to half the proceeds for services, beginning next January.
