Apple is best positioned to lead in AI with the best harness for users

Yep - things I write on the internet [Unofficial] June 3, 2026

I don’t expect Siri to be the magic bullet. I don’t expect another chat interface. The history of Apple is one of enabling its customers, its users, to ultimately make computing and digital processing meaningful and useful to the average consumer. A text interface is ok - but there is a reason why multi touch was so breakthrough. Apple owns the entire operating system and all of distribution for the world’s most loved handheld devices. Apple’s best play is not to train their own LLM, to cook up a better Siri. Apple’s best play is to build the world’s best “harness” in AI parlance - the thing that an LLM gets embedded in and used to be actually useful. Maybe a better way to think about it is the same way that a human brain is not much without its body, an LLM is not much without a harness. Apple’s big chance in AI is to build the best harness. To enable not “agents”, or whatever the latest trend is - but to enable its customers to achieve their goals, their needs in a way that delights them. Apple is proud to always highlight their incredibly high customer satisfaction. This is ultimately what Apple is about. Durable and meaningful customer delight. Apple has been doing “AI” before it was called AI - when it was called “ML”. And even before then. And I believe for next week, Apple hopefully will show us how best to access more parts of the operating system, user data and more. Apple is prime positioned to build the best harness. It has the whole platform control, it has powerful hardware to even allow local AI execution, it has incredible experience in accessibility - the necessary mindset and tooling to enable both programmatic and human access to all parts of its platforms. Apple’s strength is focusing on the customer, specifically the human. That human feels something when an Apple device (and service) makes their life better. Ultimately they don’t care if it was delivered with AI or not. For developers, I would expect to see the equivalent of accessibility APIs to more parts of the system, maybe through Intents, maybe through some new ways. But ultimately enabling LLM based systems to, safely, gain more access to more parts of the system and apps. A harness. I believe Apple is best positioned to build the best harness for AI in their platforms - they have been doing that for years now and I am hopeful we will see big steps on this journey. Apple has always been about making technology meaningful to its users and ultimately accessible. AI will not be an exception. Looking forward to a great WWDC.
