And this film made over a billion dollars.\n>>>>\n>>>> Collaborates with the CIA to open up Wakanda’s resources to western markets, and vows to fight global oppression by investing in Californian real-estate\n>>>\n>>> you guys are right, if Killmonger’s goal is to arm oppressed people to overthrow those in power, why is marvel painting him as a villain? that sounds like extremely reasonable position! id better watch the clip in question and make sure he doesnt say anything ridiculously evil, like turning Wakanda into a world-conquering empire, say, two seconds after that first part. it’d be really embarrassing to make a post like this if that was the case\n>>>\n>>> Killmonger Becomes The King Of Wakanda Scene | Black Panther (2018) Movie CLIP 4K\n>>\n>> you understand that this character is not real and somebody wrote him that way? a group of marvel writers sat in a room and said “the guy named killmonger who is evil and does evil stuff should be the one who talks about arming oppressed people (something good for oppressed people irl) while our hero is canonically a western collaborator (something bad for oppressed people irl)” even if his name was Babyeater and he ate babies on screen the posts point would still stand: A group of marvel writers decided to associate the concept of “arming oppressed people” with their villian, or “oh they don’t care actually they talk about arming oppressed people for the optics!”\n>>\n>> it actually doesn’t refute OPs point at all that he was a villain or whatever, it proves it. it’s a very common writing tactic about oppressed people’s fights by people who agree with the oppression: character says / does something relating to actual oppressed people’s struggles, but they’re also portrayed as Evil. You’ll see that OP did not make a “killmonger was right” post, she made a post saying “It’s so disgusting that they gave the line about arming oppressed people to the villian of the movie”, and the others agree this is disgusting writing choice to do in a movie which shares its name with a Black people’s party that fought against their oppression by arming people (and was explicitly anti western collaboration for Africa!)",
