The DM requires checks for idioms. Honestly, all figurative language is suspect.
“They’re gonna kick the bucket” - attack roll or fail to kick said bucket
“Aren’t you noble” - CHA check to initiate negotiations for arranged marriage
When PCs complain that the DM “shouldn’t take things literally” - summon thief NPC to take their things, literally
