I saw Armando Iannucci on Taskmaster and was really interested in his work. Got a glimpse with Tube Tales that I watched earlier this month, and now here I am watching a full-length movie by him. Utterly enjoyable from start to the end. There are things happening everywhere in the movie, as in reality, yet the moments between those in power were just so funny. Comedy and horror. Though one might say that communism is being targeted here through satire, democracies are no less of a joke in 2026. It is all about men and power at the end of the day, and they all ruin the world. The likenesses of actors to real historical figures really added to the film’s overall atmosphere. I think it really helps to know a bit about history before watching the film, because you can laugh at more things than just those shown on screen. I await a future release of a similar movie, but made about Trump and his version of the USA. Sad, but worth putting in the effort.
