Gender stuff

There was a moment watching the behind the scenes show for dungeons and drag queens season one that had a big effect on me and kind of solidified in my mind that I was, in fact, non-binary. It was when Brendan lee mulligan talked about his makeup design, and how the artist had gone for 'drag as warpaint' for him. And something clicked in my brain. Trying to articulate the forms of gender expression that feels right and expressive for me can be hard since there's so little words and examples to draw from. The best way I can describe it, in very flawed terms, is feminine words in a masculine font. Like I often joke about himbo being a gender, but it works It takes things our society views as feminine like, bright colours, being sensual, being sexually objectified and clothing designed to reveal and compliment the physical form, and presents it in a way that isn't strictly female. Same with the traditional leatherman look. Whilst many into leather would say it's a masculine aesthetic, I would say it's not traditionally masculine. You wouldn't really see a cis-het guy walking about in BLUF. It's an inherently queer masculine expression. It's "butch" And these are the kinds of things I feel reflects my experience of the world. Again trying to find by feel alone in the dark.
