"textContent": "It feels like we've been waiting forever for Sennheiser to announce its successor to its flagship MOMENTUM 4 headphones, which launched all the way back in August 2022.\n\nBut the MOMENTUM 5 has finally been announced, and in addition to a stylish design, Sennheiser has improved its ANC performance and added spatial audio with head tracking.\n\nThat doesn't mean Sennheiser has messed with what mate the MOMENTUM 4 great to begin with. The MOMENTUM 5 carries the same acclaimed 42 mm transducer from its predecessor, manufactured at Sennheiser's facility in Tullamore, Ireland, and tuned for full-bodied sound with dynamic bass.\n\nThe driver is inspired by the premium HD 600-series, which should tell you something about the sonic ambition here.\n\nWhat _has_ changed significantly is the ANC. Sennheiser has doubled the microphone count to four per side (eight in total), and claims the result is up to three times more effective at cutting through ambient voice chatter.\n\nDolby Atmos with head tracking is coming too, though it requires a firmware update via the Smart Control Plus app rather than being enabled straight out of the box. Once it lands, it should make supported Atmos content sound considerably more immersive.\n\nThe headphones also ship with Bluetooth 5.4 and are engineered to support Bluetooth 6.0 through a future firmware release. For Android users on a compatible device, aptX Lossless streaming via Snapdragon Sound means near-lossless wireless audio quality.\n\nOne of the more interesting additions is a user-replaceable 700 mAh battery. All you need is a small Phillips-head screwdriver, and it takes only a few minutes.\n\nBattery life sits at a class-leading 57 hours with ANC engaged, and quick charging is on board for top-ups on the go. The carry case has been made 20% smaller for easier travel, and Sennheiser has shifted to plastic-free packaging across the board.\n\n> _Lilika Beck, President of Sennheiser Consumer Audio, said in the announcement: \"With our new, user-swappable battery, adaptable hardware, and shift to compact, plastic-free packaging, our customers will feel proud to choose a headphone meant to last.\"_\n\nThe MOMENTUM 5 Wireless is available in Black, White, and Denim colourways.
