    "Apple announced its AI-powered accessibility advancements"
  ],
  "textContent": "Good design isn't just about what a product looks like. It's about how a product works. So when a company launches a product with accessibility features that makes it better for _everyone_ , then that's an example of great design.\n\nYesterday Apple announced its AI-powered accessibility advancements, but Midea's new dishwasher is arguably more meaningful. It features an easy lift basket, that raises the bottom basket by up to 25 cm, making it easier to stack and unstack.\n\nObviously that's going to be huge for anyone with mobility issues, but it's also helpful for everyone else, making it easier to actually add and remove your dinnerware.\n\nThe Easy-Lift basket can raise the lower rack by up to 25cm, even when it's fully loaded with up to 18kg of dishes, bringing everything to a comfortable waist height.\n\nMidea notes that four million Australians live with some form of back pain, and that nearly seven in ten Australians prefer to stay in their own homes as they age. This dishwasher is squarely aimed at making that easier.\n\nBeyond the lift mechanism, the Easy-Lift is a well-specced machine. Its 5.5 star water rating and 4.5 star energy rating put it near the top of its class for efficiency.\n\nThe Dual Zone Wash feature lets you run just the upper or lower basket independently, saving water and energy on smaller loads, while the Auto Wash sensor reads how dirty the dishes are and adjusts the cycle accordingly.\n\nMidea's Spacemaster Design adds up to 46mm of additional internal height and up to 9% more capacity compared to a standard 60cm dishwasher. Taller wine glasses and mixing bowls should fit without issue.\n\nDrying is handled by ActiveOpen Dry, which automatically pops the door open at the end of each cycle to let steam escape and cool air circulate. It's a simple, energy-efficient approach that avoids the need for a heated dry element.\n\nOn the hygiene front, the Ion Dishfresh system claims to eliminate up to 99.8% of pollutants by releasing negatively charged ions, and dedicated HygieneCare+, IntensiveCare+ and MachineCare+ programs take care of viruses including COVID-19, HSV-1, Norovirus and Rhinovirus.\n\n> _Christie Yuen, Head of Marketing for Midea ANZ, said the new model reflects the brand's approach to the Australian market. \"The new Easy-Lift dishwasher brings to life our promise of creating technology that makes everyday living easier, more comfortable and more efficient.\"_\n\nMidea is backing the Easy-Lift's longevity, claiming a lifespan of up to 15 years and the ability to handle up to 75,000 wash cycles.\n\nFeature| Detail\n---|---\nEasy-Lift Basket| Raises lower basket up to 25cm; supports up to 18kg\nWater rating| 5.5 stars\nEnergy rating| 4.5 stars\nSpacemaster Design| Up to 46mm additional internal height; up to 9% more capacity vs standard 60cm\nDual Zone Wash| Upper or lower basket can run independently\nAuto Wash| Sensors detect soil level and adjust the cycle\nActiveOpen Dry| Door opens automatically at cycle end to release steam\nIon Dishfresh| Eliminates up to 99.8% of pollutants via negatively charged ions\nVirus elimination| 99.8% (COVID-19, HSV-1, Norovirus, Rhinovirus)\nLifespan| Up to 15 years / 75,000 cycles\nRRP| $1,269\n\n## Pricing and availability\n\nThe Midea Easy-Lift Dishwasher is available now at Bing Lee with a recommended retail price of $1,269.\n\n* * *\n\n### Latest dishwasher deals",
