Ring completes its 2K glow-up with new spotlight and floodlight cameras
After rolling out 2K to some of its range early in 2025, Ring has completed the process of making 2K the standard across its outdoor camera lineup with updates to its spotlight and floodlight cameras.
The two new models are the Ring Spotlight Camera (2nd Gen) and Ring Floodlight Camera (2nd Gen), both featuring what Ring calls "Retinal 2K" video.
The step up from 1080p brings sharper detail across the full field of view in daytime and low-light conditions alike, making it easier to identify faces, read plates, or just figure out what spooked the dog at 2am.
The Floodlight Camera (2nd Gen) is the bigger of the two, combining its 2K sensor with 2000 lumens of output. That's enough to properly light up a driveway, garage, or backyard, making it a solid choice for anyone who wants wide-area coverage with real deterrence capability.
It's worth comparing against other home security cameras before you commit, but the price point is competitive for a hardwired floodlight-and-camera combo.
The Spotlight Camera (2nd Gen) takes a more compact approach, with a 550-lumen spotlight for targeted illumination.
Its dual-chamber battery design gives you more flexibility around power management, and it now supports Ring's Quick Release Ultra Battery Pack (sold separately), so you can swap out a depleted pack without uninstalling the whole camera.
