"textContent": "As someone who writes about tech for a living, sometimes a press release comes along at the perfect time in your life.\n\nFor me, this week, my printer ran out of cyan ink. I have plenty of _other_ coloured ink as a backup that I bought a month or two ago. But I can't print ANYTHING right now until I replace Cyan.\n\nAnd those tiny little cartridges are so freaking expensive, but don't last anywhere near long enough!\n\nSo reading Epson's announcement for its new lineup of EcoTank models was like speaking to my soul. Out of the box, these new printers can print 3,600 pages of black or 6,500 pages of colour. That's a dream!\n\nEpson is launching three new models in Australia: the ET-1910, ET-2910 and ET-2911.\n\nThe concept behind EcoTank is to replace the cartridge system with large, refillable ink tanks that hold far more ink and cost significantly less to top up over time. Epson claims users can save up to 90% on printing costs compared to traditional cartridge-based printers.\n\nThe ET-1910 is the entry-level option, handling print-only tasks with Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and Apple AirPrint built in.\n\nIf you need scan and copy functionality as well, the ET-2910 (available in white) and ET-2911 (in black) add both and come in at $100 more.\n\nAll three models print at 11 pages per minute in black and white, and 6 pages per minute in colour.\n\n> _Phil Daidone, Senior Product Manager at Epson Australia, says the company wants to break the cartridge habit entirely. \"Many households are still stuck in the cycle of buying cartridges or dealing with the cost and complexity of laser printers. With EcoTank, we're giving customers a better alternative, one that eliminates that cycle entirely. The ET-1910, ET-2910 and ET-2911 are designed to make printing more affordable, more convenient and ultimately more sustainable over the long term.\"_\n\nThere's a sustainability angle worth noting too. Fewer cartridges means less plastic waste, which adds up fast for anyone printing regularly for a family or home office.\n\nSpec | ET-1910 | ET-2910 / ET-2911\n---|---|---\nMain function | Print only | Print, copy, scan\nConnectivity | Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Apple AirPrint | Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Apple AirPrint\nPrint speed (black) | 11 ppm | 11 ppm\nPrint speed (colour) | 6 ppm | 6 ppm\nPages from included ink (black) | 3,600 | 3,600\nPages from included ink (colour) | 6,500 | 6,500\nRRP | $299 | $399\n\n## Pricing and availability\n\nThe Epson EcoTank ET-1910 is available now for $299. The ET-2910 and ET-2911 are both priced at $399 and offer the same feature set, just in different colours.\n\nAll three models are available through Epson's website at epson.com.au and through retail stores nationwide.\n\n* * *\n\n### Latest printer and scanner deals",
