Insta360 Snap Selfie Screen lets you use your phone's best camera for selfies

One of the greatest challenges I've had trying to create video content by myself is choosing the right camera. A phone's rear camera is much better than the selfie snapper, but it's much, much easier to frame your shot when you can see what you are shooting.

Enter Insta360 with the new Snap Selfie Screen.

The Insta360 Snap is a compact monitor that attaches magnetically to the back of your phone and connects via USB-C. It gives you a real-time preview of your shot, so you can use your phone's main camera (the good one) while still being able to see exactly how you're framing up.

Because it uses a wired USB-C connection rather than Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, there's no pairing process, no battery to charge, and lag of just 30ms.

The touchscreen mirrors your phone display, so you can adjust settings, tweak exposure, and control your camera app without reaching around to the front of the phone.

A one-tap mirror mode flips the preview so it looks natural when you're checking your hair or expression.

There are two models in the lineup. The standard Snap Selfie Screen covers the basics, while the Snap Selfie Screen with Light adds adjustable colour temperature and brightness, developed in collaboration with AMIRO, which makes professional makeup lighting.

That will be useful if you're shooting in a dimly lit room, a restaurant, or anywhere the background light is fighting against you.

The design is intentionally slim, slipping into a pocket without much fuss. A 2-in-1 protective cover guards the screen when it's stowed and flips out of the way when you're shooting.

Insta360 founder JK Liu said the product addresses a problem creators know well. "Your phone's best camera is on the back, but you can't see yourself while using it. By turning your smartphone into a powerful, creator-ready selfie system, we are helping nano creators and vloggers capture sharper, better-lit content anytime, anywhere, without changing the way they already like to shoot."
