In recent weeks, the leak world has been buzzing about Blizzard 's popular hero shooter Overwatch finally stepping into the world of Fortnite. According to reports, this massive collaboration will not only bring skins for favorite characters like Genji, Mercy, and D.Va but will also bring iconic maps to the island.

Epic Games has yet to provide official confirmation, but fans have already noticed map changes inspired by classic Overwatch battlefields in newly released trailers.

Is Hanamura Returning?

The first detail that caught the eye in the newly released trailer was a traditional Japanese temple with cherry blossoms (sakura) outside. This location stands out for its resemblance to Hanamura, one of Overwatch 's most iconic maps.

Hanamura was one of the original maps when the game first launched in 2016, but it was removed from Quick Play and Ranked modes with the arrival of Overwatch 2 in 2022. It seems quite logical to add this area, the home of Genji's Shimada klan, along with the ninja character's skins. The wave of nostalgia we previously saw during the Fortnite OG period seems to be blowing with Overwatch vibes this time.

Watchpoint: Gibraltar and Busan Possibilities

Another point of interest (POI) seen in the trailer is an area filled with tall buildings with a massive statue in front of it. Many players believe this location is Watchpoint: Gibraltar, one of the Overwatch team's bases around the world.

In contrast, some fans speculate that this urban settlement could be the Busan map associated with D.Va. Just like in the Overwatch Classic mode, that exciting atmosphere of the old days could be revived on the Fortnite island.

Act 3 will include Overwatch & other map changes!

Of course, it should be remembered that all of this is based on screenshots taken from a short trailer for now. However, if you are an Overwatch player looking to take a short break from the Ranked grind, Fortnite seems to be exactly where you need to be in the coming weeks.
