Arc Raiders Numbers Declining on Steam
Sad news has started coming from Arc Raiders , which launched with great excitement. The game, which once broke concurrent player records, has lost almost 80% of its player base on Steam since the beginning of 2026.
According to SteamDB data, the game peaked at 482,000 concurrent players on November 16, 2025, a few weeks after its release. Maintaining this momentum until the end of the year, the production was still being actively played by 428,579 players on January 1, 2026.
However, with the new year, the tide turned. As of April 16, 2026, the shooter's peak in the last 24 hours dropped to 90,138. This represents a massive 79% decline compared to the start of the year.
To evaluate the situation from a broader perspective, these figures still make the game the 15th most-played title on Steam. In other words, Arc Raiders is still ahead of tough competitors like Overwatch and Marvel Rivals. It should also be noted that console players are not included in this data. Nevertheless, such a sharp decline for one of the most acclaimed shooters of all time is quite remarkable.
Why is the Arc Raiders Player Count Dropping?
So, what are the primary reasons behind this decline? In fact, there are several different factors affecting this situation. The first and most obvious reason is players gradually turning to other new titles for a game that has been on the market for about six months; essentially, a natural saturation process.
On the other hand, the core audience of the production developed by Embark Studios complains that content to do in the game is starting to run out. The developers had previously acknowledged this issue. Although major updates containing new enemy types, challenges, and missions were released every month throughout 2026, many players feel that these innovations are not enough to keep them in the game.
Some players argue that Arc Raiders focuses too much on the PvE side, which drives those looking for more PvP action to alternatives like Marathon.
The good news is that the Riven Tides update is coming toward the end of April. This patch, which will introduce a new map and a massive Arc enemy to the game, will be one of the largest content packs to date. Perhaps this move will strike that big spark needed to bring players back and push player numbers up again.
