Has Fable Been Delayed? A Clear Answer from the Developers

Fable Developers Insist on Fall 2026

In a podcast he participated in, Grubb stated that he heard Fable has been internally delayed. 'This doesn't mean the game is definitely coming out next year,' said Grubb, adding that the team is still trying to make it this year but is wary of the GTA 6 launch.

If the game remains scheduled after the release of GTA 6, this could cause it to slip into December and thus early 2027. This makes the game a strong candidate for a 2027 delay.

Despite all these claims, the Fable team responded to questions on X (Twitter) by saying, 'We look forward to welcoming you to Albion in Fall 2026,' emphasizing that the official schedule has not changed. As we saw at the Xbox Developer Direct 2026 event, Playground Games is working hard to complete the game on time.
