McDonald’s Turkey Introduces Special AFK Tool for Gamers
McDonald’s Turkey has announced a new menu specially prepared for gamers, along with a quite interesting accessory. Inspired by the brand’s iconic golden arches, this tool is designed to prevent players from stepping away from their controllers while eating—essentially stopping them from going AFK.
This campaign, which might capture the interest of burger lovers worldwide, features the “Pro Gamer Menu.” The menu includes a Big Mac, medium fries, a medium drink, and 8 onion rings.
No More AFK with McDonald’s Archie
The new menu focuses on the fact that taking a meal break during online games often leads to the player being kicked from the lobby or stalling the team's progress. Archie, presented as a solution to this problem, was developed by the TBWA\Istanbul advertising agency.
Designed in the shape of the McDonald’s logo, this device can be attached to any controller with side-by-side analog sticks. Archie prevents the game from detecting you as “inactive” and kicking you from the server by gently moving the analog sticks.
A press release stated: “During online games, especially in high-paced moments, being away from the screen can directly disrupt the flow of the game. That’s why many players resort to different methods. We turned this behavior into a player insight and made Archie a part of the McDonald’s experience by gifting it to customers who order the Pro Gamer Menu.”
Eating while playing games you can play with your friends is set to become much more hassle-free. Archie is currently drawing attention as a fun collector's item, and it remains to be seen whether it will be released globally if successful. For now, this creative campaign is testing the impact it can create on the gaming community.
