Dead by Daylight 2 Won't Happen: Behaviour Confirms

If you've ever wondered if a Dead by Daylight 2 will ever be released, it's worth keeping your expectations low. Developer Behaviour Interactive has firmly rejected the possibility of a sequel.

Speaking at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) held in recent months, the studio's head of partnerships Mathieu Cote and creative director Dave Richard made important statements about the future of the popular multiplayer horror game. Although the team has discussed creating a new game or remaking the original, they have decided that this is not the best option for either the series or the players.

Players' Efforts Won't Go to Waste

Richard stated, 'There’s always a point where we say, 'Okay, we could make a sequel.' It would actually be much easier to make a game from scratch instead of trying to fix current problems,'. However, emphasizing that this never made sense for fans, Richard said, 'Fans have invested both time and money into DBD. We cannot ignore these investments of theirs.'

Cote stated that their main goal is to ensure that when players open Dead by Daylight for the first time, they 'feel like they are playing a current game.'

We Are Within the Mist for the Next Decade

Even though the game is 10 years old, Behaviour Interactive believes they can continue to build upon the existing foundation. In Cote's words, they plan to carry the game into the next decade. The strategy is built upon constantly keeping the current game fresh, ensuring that players who have put in years of effort do not have to start everything from scratch.

Cote put an end to the speculation by saying, 'We are not going to make a DBD 2, that is for sure,' 'Players will not have to go out and buy a new game and start everything from the very beginning.'

This decision by the studio proves how lively and popular the game still is. It seems that the struggle within the Mist will continue for many years without the need for a new game.
