However, now it is time for the legendary name to pass the torch.\n\n## Raven Software Founder Retires\n\nThe retirement of Brian Raffel was confirmed through an official announcement on the **Raven Software** X account. Raffel co-founded the studio with his brother in 1990 and released their first game, **Black Crypt** , in 1992. Since then, the studio has grown into a giant, creating 42 different games, 12 original brands, and 18 **Call of Duty** projects. Brian Raffel is particularly known for his work on legendary titles such as **Hexen** , **Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy** , **X-Men Legends** , and **Wolfenstein**.\n\n**Raven Software** has been in the kitchen of the **Call of Duty** series for over a decade.
