Sonic the Hedgehog film series has breathed new life into Sega's legendary blue hedgehog. The first teaser trailer for the fourth film in the series, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 , has finally been shared, and it is confirmed to be released in 2027.

The detail that excites fans the most in the new film is the inclusion of one of the series' iconic characters, Amy Rose , in the cast. The famous actress Kristen Bell will voice the character Amy. It has also been confirmed with the trailer that the main cast will return in full.

A Star-Studded Cast is Coming

The short trailer shared confirms that Jim Carrey will return as Dr. Eggman, Idris Elba as Knuckles, and Keanu Reeves as Shadow. The teaser begins with the appearance of Amy's famous hammer, and then we greet the main characters accompanied by the Chaos Emeralds. The pink-colored '4' in the logo is the biggest proof of how critical a role Amy will play in the story.

The new names added to the cast are not limited to just Kristen Bell. Master actor Sir Ben Kingsley will appear in a role whose details have not yet been announced, but which is stated to have an important place in the story. Additionally, the beloved name from the show Parks and Recreation , Nick Offerman , has also become another star to join the cast. This will allow Ben Schwartz , who voices Sonic, and Offerman to reunite.

The film's wide cast also includes names like Tika Sumpter, Matt Berry, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Lee Majdoub, and Richard Ayoade.

The Sega Universe Continues to Expand

As will be remembered, the third film of the series focused on the Sonic Adventure 2 story and introduced Shadow. Sega first introduced the Amy Rose character to players in the 1993 game Sonic CD. The cinematic universe's move to bring these deep-rooted characters to the big screen is met with great satisfaction among fans.

Sega's plans are not limited to just Sonic. The company recently announced that it is preparing animation adaptations for its classic games such as Streets of Rage , Shinobi , and OutRun. It seems that we will see Sega characters on screens much more often in the coming years.
