Sad news has arrived from the Crystal Dynamics front. The famous studio has announced that it has laid off another 20 employees.

Despite major projects currently in development, such as Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst , the studio is continuing with layoffs. Having parted ways with 30 employees just four months ago, the company is now saying goodbye to 20 more.

Fourth Wave of Layoffs in a Year

In an announcement made on its official LinkedIn account, it was stated that the studio had parted ways with '20 talented team members.' It is said that this decision covers both the development team and central operational roles. The studio argues that these departures are 'necessary' to 'align team structures with long-term goals' as they move into new development stages.

As we mentioned before, layoffs at Crystal Dynamics have been ongoing for some time. 17 people were let go in March 2025, an unspecified number of employees in August 2025, and approximately 30 people in November 2025. With this latest move, the studio has downsized for the fourth time in a year.

In other news, it is said that the difficulty level of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will be adjusted to 'modern player tastes.' Additionally, Catalyst developers had announced that players would not need to do any 'prior preparation' before embarking on the adventure.
