Bungie's highly anticipated extraction shooter game Marathon is generating excitement! The production, for which we previously announced the release date, is now stepping into the competitive arena. Bungie announced via social media that the ranked mode (Ranked Play) will begin this Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 00:00 UTC.

According to the statement, this mode will still be under development during the first season. Therefore, the developers place great importance on feedback from players to continue shaping the mode. If you are wondering whether your computer is ready for this action, be sure to check out our Marathon system requirements guide.

Marathon Ranked Mode Structure

In this mode, players will earn points by reaching score targets determined by a special item called Holotag. As you collect Ranked Points, you will rise through six different stages. The ranking system works as follows:

  • 6 main ranks, starting from Bronze up to Pinnacle.
  • Each rank is divided into 3 different tiers.
  • At the end of the season, you will be rewarded based on the highest rank you reached.

This system allows players to continue competing without the fear of losing progress. Additionally, limited-time rewards exclusive to ranked mode will be offered each season.

The first season's rewards include exclusive weapon styles and titles. Let us remind you that you must be at least level 25 as a Runner to participate in ranked matches. Matches will be active only on weekends, and each weekend will feature a different area: Perimeter , Dire Marsh , or Outpost. This weekend, the action begins on the Perimeter map. Since team sizes will be matched in a balanced way, you will be able to challenge opponents either with your team or on your own.
