Subnautica 2 Early Access Date Announced

The highly anticipated Early Access release date for Subnautica 2 on Xbox and PC has finally been set: May 2026!

For those unaware, a significant development occurred recently in the legal dispute between Krafton and Unknown Worlds co-founders, where the court ruled in favor of the developers. We previously reported that Subnautica 2 had been delayed until 2026; now, the specific month following this delay has been confirmed. The court ordered Krafton to reinstate the CEO and not to interfere with their authority over the game's early access process.

Unknown Worlds and Krafton Agree on Early Access

A report published by IGN confirms that Unknown Worlds and their partners KRAFTON have agreed to launch the Early Access version of Subnautica 2 in May 2026. Although no specific day has been set, in a message sent to the team, Unknown Worlds president Steve Papoutsis announced that thanks to the team's dedicated work, new story chapters, brand-new creatures, and different biomes have been added to the game.

Additionally, Steve Papoutsis confirmed that the Subnautica 2 team successfully passed KRAFTON 's milestone review last week and can continue their open development journey with the community. The current priority is to get the game into the hands of players as soon as possible.

Although Krafton does not fully agree with the court's decisions, they have stated they will support the early access process in May to avoid discouraging the team and to stick to the release schedule.
