Link: Huawei beats Apple and Samsung with new wide foldable

The Pura X Max, a new foldable phone by Huawei, is set to launch soon with a distinctive 'passport' aspect ratio. This design mirrors the rumored format of Apple’s iPhone Fold and may precede it to market.

Reports from April 13, 2026, indicate that Huawei will officially release the Pura X Max in China on April 20th, alongside its vibrant Pura 90 series.

The device will feature a variety of colors including blue, white, orange, and black, and will sport a triple rear camera setup.

In design, the Pura X Max borrows the gridded, textured finish from its predecessor, the original Pura X, and is wider than most current foldables.

Unlike its smaller counterpart, which was a flip phone, the X Max combines elements of classic flip and book-style form factors, usable in both portrait and landscape modes.

Meanwhile, Apple and Samsung are also rumored to be developing similar wide-bodied foldable phones, expected later in the year. #
