  "textContent": "Glenwood Springs residents should plan ahead for several scheduled city facility closures over the next few months, including Independence Day closures, a temporary mid-day landfill and recycling closure, annual Community Center maintenance, and a longer downtown parking garage closure.\n\nThe City of Glenwood Springs says the closures are also posted on the city calendar at cogs.us/calendar.\n\n## July 4: City Facilities Closed for Independence Day\n\nAll listed city facilities will be closed Saturday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.\n\nClosures include:\n\n  * Glenwood Springs Community Center\n  * Recycling Center\n  * South Canyon Landfill\n\n\n\nResidents looking for information about Glenwood Springs Independence Day events can visit cogs.us/July4th.\n\n## July 22: Temporary Mid-Day Closure at Landfill and Recycling Center\n\nOn Wednesday, July 22, the South Canyon Landfill and Recycling Center will close briefly for a staff appreciation event.\n\nThe South Canyon Landfill will be closed to the public from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.\n\nThe Recycling Center will be closed from noon to 1 p.m.\n\nCity Hall, the Community Center, and the Community Art Center will remain open during normal operating hours.\n\n## August 23-30: Community Center Maintenance Closure\n\nThe Glenwood Springs Community Center will close from August 23 through August 30 for annual summer maintenance.\n\nDuring the closure, crews will make repairs, work on the climbing wall, and complete a deep clean of the facility.\n\nResidents who use the Community Center regularly should plan around the weeklong closure.\n\n## August 3-October 3: Downtown Parking Garage Closure\n\nBoth levels of the 9th and Cooper Avenue parking garage will be closed from August 3 through October 3.\n\nThe closure is needed for structural lintel and crack repair, resurfacing of the full upper deck, and drainage repairs.\n\nAlternate parking will be available at the 7th Street lot, which now has an improved sidewalk connection to downtown.\n\nDowntown employees are strongly encouraged to use alternate transportation during the closure, including the free Ride Glenwood Springs bus, walking, biking, or Ride Glenwood On-Demand.\n\n## Questions and Contacts\n\nFor questions about City Hall, contact Communications and Engagement Officer Bryana Starbuck at 970-384-6441 or bryana.starbuck@cogs.us.\n\nFor questions about the Community Center, contact the front desk at 970-384-6301.\n\nFor questions about the South Canyon Landfill or Recycling Center, contact Landfill Manager Liz Mauro at elizabeth.mauro@cogs.us.\n\n## Bottom Line\n\nGlenwood Springs residents should check schedules before visiting city facilities this summer.\n\nThe biggest planned disruptions are the July 4 holiday closures, the July 22 mid-day landfill and recycling closures, the August 23-30 Community Center maintenance closure, and the August 3-October 3 closure of the downtown parking garage at 9th and Cooper.",
