Public safety services, including emergency dispatch, law enforcement patrols, fire response, jail operations, and urgent medical care, will continue.\n\nSome facilities, including landfills, animal services, recreation facilities, and recycling drop-off sites, have different holiday schedules.\n\n## Mesa County and Grand Junction\n\n### Mesa County Government\n\nMesa County administrative offices will be closed Friday, July 3. That includes general county offices, the old Courthouse, Clerk and Recorder, Treasurer, and Motor Vehicle departments.\n\nNormal operations are expected to resume Monday, July 6.\n\nThe Mesa County Landfill will be closed Friday, July 3, but will reopen for regular weekend hours on Saturday, July 4.\n\nMesa County Animal Services will be open for limited holiday hours Friday, July 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.\n\nPublic safety services will remain active. Sheriff’s Office road patrol, jail operations, Criminal Justice Services locations, and the Coroner’s Office will continue operating around the clock.\n\n### City of Grand Junction\n\nGrand Junction City Hall and municipal administrative departments will be closed Friday, July 3.\n\nWeekday curbside trash and single-stream recycling routes will run on their normal Friday schedule. However, the public recycling drop-off facility will be closed Saturday, July 4.\n\nGrand Junction Police and Fire emergency responders will continue standard 24-hour operations.\n\n## Montrose County and City of Montrose\n\n### Montrose County Government\n\nMontrose County administrative buildings, courts, human services, and public health departments will be closed Friday, July 3.\n\nSheriff’s Office emergency dispatch and patrol operations will remain active throughout the holiday weekend.\n\n### City of Montrose\n\nMontrose City Hall, Municipal Court, Public Works, the Downtown Visitor Center, Montrose Pavilion, and the Animal Shelter will be closed Friday, July 3.\n\nFriday residential trash collection will run on its normal schedule. City trash route delays generally occur only when recognized holidays fall directly on active weekday pickup days.\n\nThe Black Canyon Golf Course and The Rusty Putter restaurant will remain open for standard holiday play and dining.\n\nThe Police Department’s administrative front counter will be closed Friday, but patrol officers will remain on duty and responding to calls.\n\n## Garfield County\n\nGarfield County administrative departments and offices of elected officials, including the Clerk and Recorder, Assessor, and Treasurer, will be closed Friday, July 3.\n\nThe Garfield County Landfill near Rifle will also be closed July 3.\n\nThe Rifle Garfield County Airport will remain open for general aviation, weather permitting, though airport administrative offices will be closed.\n\nSheriff’s Office emergency dispatch, patrol, and 24-hour community support functions will remain active.\n\n## Online Services and Emergency Contacts\n\nEmergency 911 dispatch, law enforcement patrols, fire districts, and urgent hospital care will remain staffed across the region.\n\nFor non-emergency business, residents can use online city and county portals to pay utility bills, renew vehicle registrations, or submit service requests. Digital submissions made during the holiday weekend will be queued for staff review after administrative offices reopen Monday, July 6.\n\n## Bottom Line\n\nPlan ahead if you need in-person government services on Friday, July 3. Most offices will be closed, but emergency services will continue, and some trash, recreation, aviation, and limited animal services will remain available depending on location.",
