"textContent": "Several road, sidewalk, and transportation projects are underway or scheduled across Grand Junction as the city continues upgrading infrastructure in growing areas of the community.\n\n### Crosby Avenue reconstruction beginning\n\nA major reconstruction project on Crosby Avenue is expected to begin later this month.\n\nThe corridor connects Main Street with the Rimrock Shopping Center and provides an alternate route to the I-70 Business corridor.\n\nThe project will reconstruct the roadway and add:\n\n * bike lanes\n * a 10-foot detached shared-use path\n * improved lighting\n * updated streetscape features\n\n\n\nThe construction contract was awarded to Suncore Construction, and the project received $1 million in grant funding from the Colorado Department of Transportation’s Revitalizing Main Street program.\n\nConstruction is expected to continue through fall. Click here for more in-depth information on this effort.\n\n### Safe routes to school and neighborhood repairs\n\nCity Council will consider awarding additional infrastructure contracts later this month, including the Hermosa Avenue sidewalk project.\n\nThe project would construct about 590 feet of sidewalk between 12th and 13th Streets, improving pedestrian safety near senior care facilities where sidewalks are currently missing.\n\nAnother proposed contract would fund street repairs in several neighborhoods, including:\n\n * Haven Hill Court\n * Country Lane Court\n * Caprock Court\n * Kami Circle\n\n\n\nThe work includes pavement replacement, curb repairs, drainage improvements, and sidewalk reconstruction.\n\n### Projects already under construction\n\nSeveral larger projects are already underway.\n\nThe D ½ Road improvement project west of 30 Road is reconstructing the corridor with bike lanes, sidewalks, streetlights, and a center turn lane to provide a safer route to school.\n\nA 10-foot detached path along Patterson Road is also under construction between 24½ Road and 25½ Road.\n\nMeanwhile, work continues on Four Canyons Parkway Phase II, a major corridor project that includes sewer, water, storm drainage, electric, and fiber relocations. Construction is expected to continue through spring 2027.",
