Grand Junction residents and travelers should plan for several active and upcoming projects that will affect traffic flow in the coming weeks and months. The City of Grand Junction is continuing work on key roadway improvements, and the Colorado Department of Transportation is preparing to begin a multi-phase construction project along I-70B.

Below is a summary of current travel restrictions, what to expect, and tips for navigating work zones safely.


City of Grand Junction Projects With Travel Restrictions

Four Canyons Parkway Project

25 Road closure

  • Location: 25 Road will be closed from F 1/2 Road to Waite Avenue
  • Traffic notes: A temporary roadway is in place
  • Travel tip: Use caution and be prepared for lane shifts and changing traffic patterns

D 1/2 Road Capacity Improvements

D 1/2 Road closure

  • Location: D 1/2 Road will be closed from 29 Road to 30 Road
  • Access: Open to local traffic only
  • Travel tip: Through traffic should take alternate routes and allow extra time

Non-City Project With Travel Restrictions

CDOT I-70B Phase 7 Construction

CDOT’s I-70B Phase 7 construction is scheduled to begin in February and is expected to continue through early 2027.

What to expect

  • General working hours: 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., weekdays
  • Additional work: Some night and weekend work may occur as needed

Travel Tips and Safety Reminders

  • Plan alternate routes in advance, especially if you normally use 25 Road or D 1/2 Road for through travel.
