"textContent": "Games Industry.biz (GIb) is a news website which covers the video game industry (surprise!). I have had GIb in my feed collection for a couple of years, and it has informed two NLJ articles in Provocative Out-Of-Context Headlines (GiB was responsible for the “context” rather than the headline) and AI Game Worlds and Humane Games. I usually do not think of GiB in terms of authors, but I decided to look into Rob Fahey after reading his report/opinion piece titled September becomes a pile-up as publishers swerve to avoid GTA 6. Gib describes Mr. Fahey as a former editor who has lived in Japan for several years. As I scrolled through his archive, I noted several opinion articles that I had read in recent weeks and found interesting. Among the best examples are The RAMageddon hits home (featured in June 1 Pook-Emu Bee), The hangover kicks in after a decade of games-as-a-service obsession (I am not a fan of games as service), Devs aren’t “lazy” and game updates aren’t guaranteed (I preferred the olden no-update era), The DLSS 5 backlash is not going away (they got rid of the background characters!), and AI assets are an unconscionable risk for premium-priced games (featured in Newsletter Leaf Journal 256). Mr. Fahey tackles many bad (in my estimation) trends in the video game industry, but does so in a measured and fair way. While find enough at GIb to subscribe to the whole site in my feed collection, it advertises individual author feeds, including one for Mr. Fahey. (As for the article I shared at the top: I have never played GTA and do not care to change that, but the GTA6 hype is nevertheless nostalgic to me as someone who read the popular video game magazines back around the turn of the century.)",
