Dana Lyseng, Multi-Contessa-Winning Hairstylist, Wella Top Stylist and Owner of Supernova Salon, Passes Away

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dana Lyseng, following a years-long battle with glioblastoma—an aggressive form of brain cancer. Dana was a dear friend of Salon and the Contessa Awards. Based in North Vancouver, B.C., she has been working in the professional beauty industry for more than 25 years. Beginning her career as an apprentice at Beverly Ball Hair Design, Dana attended the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Los Angeles. In 1995, she joined the education team for Goldwell Canada, where she worked as a brand educator for 10 years. Dana is highly regarded as a master colourist and beloved salon owner and mentor. Working as a Wella Top Stylist for the past 18 years, Dana has earned several awards throughout her career including four Contessa Awards, most recently for Collaboration of the Year at the 2026 Contessa Awards. She will be dearly missed. Our thoughts are with her husband, Michael, and children, Cora and Sjor, along with her family, friends, colleagues and Supernova Salon team.
