"textContent": "Carnival Cruise Line brought its America250 homeport celebration to Jacksonville on July 2, hosting local veterans, first responders, officials and business leaders aboard Carnival Elation at JAXPORT’s Dames Point cruise terminal. The event, part of the line’s U.S. 250th-anniversary program as an official America250 partner, included a military tribute and limited-edition challenge coins for military attendees.\n\nJacksonville is one of 13 U.S. domestic homeports in Carnival’s deployment network. Carnival Elation is the only cruise-line vessel departing from Jacksonville.\n\n## Military recognition leads Jacksonville program\n\n“As America’s cruise line, we’re proud to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary in our homeport cities,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. Duffy said Carnival is using the events to “celebrate the local community and thank those who protect our freedom.”\n\nGuests boarding the ship were greeted by a 40-foot patriotic bald eagle inflatable on the top deck. Carnival also brought in Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat in patriotic attire as part of the onboard program.\n\nThe tribute recognized active-duty service members, local veterans and first responders attending the event. Military members received specially designed America250 challenge coins.\n\n## Homeport events lead into July 4 ship gatherings\n\nThe Jacksonville event follows Carnival’s June 28 homeport celebration aboard Carnival Pride in Baltimore and a June 30 event aboard Carnival Radiance in Long Beach. Carnival also scheduled a July 2 celebration aboard Carnival Paradise in Tampa.\n\nAcross the fleet, Carnival’s anniversary programming includes America250 banners and decorations, patriotic deck parties, themed sailaway events, balloon drops, specialty cocktails, strawberry shortcake, limited-edition America250 Coca-Cola cans and an “America’s Cruisin” beer. During sailings the week of July 4, one military family on each cruise is set to receive an American flag flown over the U.S. Capitol, while veterans and active-duty military guests receive commemorative pins.\n\nThe broader campaign also includes a new “From Sea to Shining Sea” bow crest being added to U.S.-based Carnival ships, beginning with Carnival Magic and Carnival Legend.\n\nOn July 4, seven East Coast ships are scheduled to gather near Celebration Key on Grand Bahama for a fireworks display: Carnival Venezia, Carnival Elation, Carnival Conquest, Carnival Glory, Carnival Pride, Carnival Sunrise and Carnival Freedom. On the West Coast, Carnival Radiance, Carnival Firenze and Carnival Luminosa are scheduled off San Diego for Big Bay Boom, where Carnival is the official cruise line sponsor.\n\n_Compare_ Carnival Cruise Line sailings by price_on Cruise Lookup._",
