"textContent": "Royal Caribbean International has returned Harmony of the Seas to Europe for a Western Mediterranean program after a five-year gap, with the Oasis-class ship resuming service from Barcelona following a drydock at Navantia in Cadiz. The ship is scheduled to operate seven-night cruises from Barcelona and Civitavecchia to Spain, Italy and France through late July before repositioning to Port Canaveral.\n\nThe return adds capacity in the Western Mediterranean ahead of the August arrival of Legend of the Seas, which is scheduled to take over similar itineraries in its inaugural season.\n\n## Western Mediterranean program runs from Barcelona and Civitavecchia\n\nHarmony of the Seas is operating weeklong Western Mediterranean sailings with calls at La Spezia, Naples, Palma de Mallorca and Marseille. Passengers can embark in either Barcelona or Civitavecchia.\n\nThe ship’s first scheduled sailing after drydock was a four-night Barcelona round trip departing May 21, 2026, with calls at Palma de Mallorca and Marseille. That followed the completion of work at Navantia on May 19, leaving the ship two days to sail from Cadiz to Barcelona, a distance of about 605 nautical miles.\n\nHarmony of the Seas last operated a full European season in 2021, when it also sailed weeklong Western Mediterranean itineraries to Spain, Italy and France. The ship originally entered service in the region in 2016 after construction at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in France.\n\n## Navantia refit adds venues and cabins\n\nThe 2026 drydock ran from April 3 to May 19 and combined routine technical work with Royal Caribbean’s Royal Amplified upgrades. The refit added a redesigned pool area with a Caribbean theme and introduced The Lime & Coconut, the line’s tropical pool bar concept.\n\nRoyal Caribbean also added new dining and bar venues, including El Loco Fresh, Samba Grill and Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade. Playmakers replaced Sabor in the Boardwalk neighborhood, while Pesky Parrot took the place of Bionic Bar on Deck 5.\n\nThe cabin count also increased by roughly 100 staterooms, including panoramic suites above the bridge and inside cabins created in former public or technical areas. Spaces removed or repurposed during the work included the Conference Center and Wonderland specialty restaurant.\n\nLocal coverage of the project put employment at about 350 sustained jobs and as many as 700 workers during peak periods.\n\n## Oasis-class capacity shifts back to Port Canaveral\n\nHarmony of the Seas is a 226,963-gross-ton, 1,188-foot Oasis-class ship with 18 decks and capacity for up to 6,780 guests. The vessel can carry more than 2,300 crew members and remains one of the highest-capacity ships in Royal Caribbean’s fleet.\n\nAfter its Mediterranean schedule, Harmony of the Seas is set to depart Barcelona on July 26, 2026, on a 13-night trans-Atlantic voyage to Port Canaveral. The crossing includes Spanish calls at Palma de Mallorca, Cartagena, Malaga and Cadiz.\n\nFrom August, the ship is scheduled to operate two- to seven-night Bahamas and Caribbean sailings from Port Canaveral.\n\n_See_ current Harmony of the Seas fares and itineraries_on Cruise Lookup._",
