"textContent": "_Updated June 21, 2026_\n\nMSC Cruises has released new images of The Spiral @ Tree of Life on MSC World Asia, an 81.3-meter, or about 267-foot, dry slide the line says will be the longest at sea when the ship enters service on Dec. 4, 2026. The attraction is being installed on the World Class newbuild now under construction at Chantiers de l'Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France.\n\nThe slide is part of The Harbour, MSC World Asia's outdoor family area, and is designed to carry guests from an elevated walkway around the Tree of Life down toward the World Promenade. The feature will span 12 decks within one of the ship's main open-air entertainment zones, dropping guests 11 decks in seconds.\n\n## The Tree of Life anchors the outdoor family area\n\nThe Tree of Life will serve as the central structure within The Harbour, rising 32 feet, or nearly 10 meters, above the deck and weighing close to eight tons. MSC said the structure will include nearly 500 feet, or more than 150 meters, of integrated LED lighting, with lighting, music and activities planned around it during evening programming.\n\nMSC described the feature in a Facebook video as both a daytime meeting point and a nighttime entertainment centerpiece. “Meet the Tree of Life,” the cruise line said. “By day, a gathering place at the heart of The Harbor outdoor park. By night, a glowing centrepiece of onboard entertainment.”\n\nThe design takes cues from contemporary Asian cityscapes and the Supertrees at Singapore's Marina Bay. The elevated walkway around the structure leads directly to The Spiral @ Tree of Life, linking the centerpiece with the ship's World Promenade, one of MSC World Asia's main public areas for dining, entertainment and sea views.\n\n## World Class scale and Mediterranean deployment\n\nMSC World Asia is the third ship in MSC Cruises' World Class series, following MSC World Europa and MSC World America. Construction began in March 2024 with a steel-cutting ceremony at Chantiers de l'Atlantique, the French shipyard that also built its sister ships.\n\nThe 215,863-GT ship is 333.3 meters long and has published capacity for about 6,758 guests and 2,142 crew, with LNG propulsion and shore-power connectivity. Like its sister ships, MSC World Asia will be organized into seven onboard districts, each combining dining, entertainment, accommodations and attractions.\n\nThe ship is not planned as an Asia-based vessel. Its design, dining and entertainment instead draw inspiration from the continent, including the Tree of Life area's references to contemporary Asian cities and Singapore's Supertrees.\n\nThe wider World Class program now extends to eight vessels. MSC World Atlantic is scheduled to debut in 2027 after MSC World Asia, with later deliveries planned through 2031.\n\nThe surrounding Family Aventura District on MSC World Asia is also planned to include Cliffhanger, an over-water swing ride 50 meters above the sea; Twin Racer and U Drop waterslides; the Adventure Trail high ropes course; playground areas; dining venues; MSC Formula Racer; and MSC Luna Park Arena, a two-deck entertainment venue for game shows, themed parties and interactive programming. Across the ship, MSC World Asia is also planned with seven pools, 13 hot tubs, and 40 bars, lounges and restaurants, along with MSC Yacht Club accommodations.\n\nMSC World Asia is scheduled to begin service with an inaugural cruise departing Barcelona on Dec. 4, 2026, opening a season of seven-night Mediterranean itineraries. Scheduled calls include Marseille, Genoa, Civitavecchia for Rome, Messina and Valletta, with guests able to embark or disembark at several ports on the program.\n\nAn official naming ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 28, 2026, in Le Havre, France. Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises, also named Captain Paolo Benini to take the helm, citing his leadership of MSC Euribia during its Dubai deployment.\n\nSee current MSC World Asia fares and itineraries on Cruise Lookup.",
