  "textContent": "So here we go again the Tube drivers are about to go on  strike again because of fears of safety.   \nThis means that more people will be travelling by road which has a higher death rate than the railways which means that for commuters it will be less safe. For the Tube drivers it will be safer of course but never mind the cattle eh.\n\nAnd the day they chose - the day that the heroic World Champion England Rugby team are to make their victory parade through London (via Earls Court I hope!). Bobby Law, the RMT’s regional organiser is quoted \"_we believe London Underground is a life and death situation and a lot more serious than a tour by the England rugby team in an open-top bus_ \". Very true, but if we can't celebrate the good things in life we will all end up like a sad old union rep.\n\nAnd the Gatwick Express drivers are moaning about rates of pay for Sunday working. Let me remind you that their pay has escalted 100% in seven years already to over £37k. And they only have to stop twice - its not a difficult job.\n\nUnions are important to the workers of this country and we really don't want idiot power mongers destroying the union’s ability to look after its members. It is no longer the seventies, there is no Management and workforce divide any longer - were all in the same sinking boats mate.\n\nUpdate!\n\nGood news - not excellent news, but good.\n\nThe Tube workers have moved their go slow protest following a lot of complaints about the coincidental timing clash with the Rugby Victory Parade.\n\nRMT leader Bob Crow said \"Our intention is not to interfere with the public's celebration of the rugby squad's achievements but to secure a safer Tube system for everyone who uses or works on it.\" _[source BBC News]()_\n\nHaving lived in a community where the clash between unions and the government resulted in mass unemployment and depravation for the whole community through no fault of their own and all because of political manoeuvring, I am not happy to see the political side of Unions rearing its ugly head again. Especially as it seems that the RMT cynically have used the Rugby as publicity for themselves - oh look how good we are moving our protest. No doubt the RMT executive think rugby is a toffs game - how wrong they would be - and tried to disrupt the toffs day out. Nobody I know who plays rugby would ever call themselves upper class, insane perhaps!",
