Loxley Barton Falls - a 009 model railway

An exercise in minimal space 4mm scale, 9mm gauge 009 modelling In 2004 I visited ExpoNG, a narrow gauge model railway exhibition as I had not done any modelling since my childhood and was curious as to what people were now doing. At ExpoNG I was inspired by the fantastic narrow gauge railway modelling on show. in one corner there was a small exhibit named the 'shoebox challenge' where three people had challenged themselves to build a model railway in a shoe box. And they were exquisite! So I decided that this was something that I could have a bash at and at the very least it would not take up much room and my wife would get a new pair of shoes (also less objections to the mess I would be making!) The Cubic Challenge It turned out the Shoebox competition was a one off and for the following year's ExpoNG Exhibition the Greenwich and District Narrow Gauge Railway Society had set a new challenge - to build a model railway with no elements extending outside of a 500mm cube. A half meter cube isn't too big and so I drew up plans and built it for the competition. It was a great reintroduction back to modelling and I was really pleased with the result. {loading="eager" fetchpriority="high"}
