"textContent": "Simon's Schema Analyser Chrome Extension\nI built this extensions to help me understand what Schema was being used on a page and what might be missing. \n\nThis is still in beta but is available to test - drop me a private message on Mastodon, Bluesky or Linkedin if you are keen to try the beta version.\n\n{loading=\"eager\" fetchpriority=\"high\"}\n\nVersion 0.1.5.1\nRefined the Schema detection and have added the Semantic Content Map section that detects the Structure, the Content, any Interactive elements, any media, The Hierarchy nd the pages Regions - each of these tabs also has the option to download the findings as a csv file.\n\nStill unlisted at the moment but here is the link to Simon's Schema Analyser chrome extension.\n\nVersion 0.1.4.6\nQuite a lot of bug fixing and improvements since 0.1.4.2. \nVersion currently under review before it is released and will auto update 0.1.4.2 as soon as it is.\n\nVersion 0.1.4.2\nThis is the first version I am releasing into the wild - version before this worked but were a bit substandard. That's not to say this first version is the bees knees but I hope it helps you work out some schema issues.\n\nOn launching the extension (you may need to reload the page if you turned on the extension after opening the page) you have the AnalyseCurrent Page button - activate that and it will analyse the page you are on.\n\nThe Schema Relationship Map\n\nThe Force Layout view shows the schema type nodes it has found and if there are relationship then the nodes will be connected.\n\nShow Nested\nYou can toggle the Show Nested button to reveal nodes that are nested.\n\nOptions \nThe Force Layout also has Options to change the node sizes, spacing and distance they repel from each other.\n\nReduce the node size for large amounts of nodes\nIf you have many nodes the force Layout can continuously move. Reducing the size of the nodes will help calm this movement.\n\nCircle layout\nNodes arranged in a circle for a quick clear view.\n\nCircle layout with Show Nested\nWith a lot of nodes this can get messy.\n\nTree layout\nNodes arranged in a grid.\n\nTree layout with Show Nested\nWith a lot of nodes this can get messy.\n\nLegend\nThis shows the colours of the nodes by Schema type\n\nExisting Schema Mark up \nWhen scrolling down the window you can see details of any schema found. Each type is shown with its name. You are able to copy or download each piece of schema or at the top Download all the schema in one file or Copy all the Schema. \n\nNested Properties\nIf the schema has nested properties it will have a toggle allowing you to see those nested items.\n\nSuggested Schema Improvements\nThe extension reviews the content of the page and will make suggestions for any Schema that is not present based on the content of the page. This should help you decide what is pertinent for the pages schema.\n\nPage Analysis Summary \nThere is also a Page Analysis Summary at the end which as at version 0.1.4.2 often gets things slightly wrong. \n\nBackground\nFor a long time Schema for web pages puzzled me. I had done a lot of research into it and whilst I grasped the fundamentals of why and how schema is formatted, actually making the decisions on what Schema to put on a page and website eluded me.\n\nToo much Schema?\nIf you look at all the schema types that are listed at schema.org you will find it overwhelming! That's ok - they are really being thorough in trying to create standardised meta data for all types of information and it is to be applauded. \n\nAre all those Schema types needed on a website?\nNo - at least not yet. If you put them all on it probably will not harm your website but it is a lot of work. So I wanted a subset that Google uses and a tool to be able to check a page for Schema on it and perhaps suggest what might be missing.\n\nEven better graphics\nIf you want a better visualiser than Simon's Schemer Analyser provides then I recommend Ziggy Shtrosberg‘s excellent SEO Schema Visualizer.\n\nMassive thank you to Jarno van Driel\nJarno van Driel very kindly reviewed early versions of the extensions and gave me some fantastic feedback without which this extension would have looked great but would not have been useful in anyway with properly analysing a web pages schema! He is a master of schema and you can learn a lot more at Invisible Graph.",
