Editorial: A needed retreat from a bad pool ‘safety’ rule

After public outcry, Oregon Health Authority staff are proposing to downgrade a public pools requirement for an adult to accompany swimmers younger than 14 to a recommendation instead, the editorial board writes. While the proposed reversal is welcome, the rule never should have gotten as far as it did, with little data or public input to support the requirement.
