The reason for this is that for the past two and a half years, Synology has been hard at work to populate a specific segment of the SOHO market with easy-to-use, yet capable and affordable devices.\n\nThis is why so far we have the direct attach (DAS) BeeDrive in multiple configurations, as well as the BeeStation, a specific kind of NAS for families and small teams.\n\nSynology BeeDrive reviewReview of the new Synology DAS device, the BeeDrive. This compact USB is more than meets the eye. Packed with powerful software it will deliver in more ways than one.BLACKVOID.CLUBLuka Manestar\n\nThe BeeStation currently comes in two options. The initial 2023, 4TB BeeStation, as well as the 2025, 8TB BeeStation Plus.\n\nSynology BeeStation review- your own cloud in minutesSynology BeeStation review - a new preconfigured product for mainstream consumers who want to store, sync, and share personal files and photos.BLACKVOID.CLUBLuka Manestar\n\nThe BeeStation 4TB review of the original model\n\nSynology Beestation Plus reviewThe latest #Synology #BeeStationPlus is here! More storage, more speed, and now with #AI assisted photo management as well as #PLEX supportBLACKVOID.CLUBLuka Manestar\n\nThe BeeStation Plus 8TB review\n\nThe latter Plus model was released in June of last year, and now we have a new/old model coming out in the near future, the **BST151-4TB**.\n\nFollowing the naming convention of the aforementioned models, the BST151 is a successor of the original BST150 with a clear indication that it will also be a 4TB single HDD model.\n\nSynology has been using a specific naming model, so the BST151 would in this case mean a BeeStation device, 1 (single drive), 5 (CPU generation, in this case the **ARM-based RTD1619B** , just as the previous model), and 1 for the next generation model.\n\nCompared to the 8TB model BST170-8T, it is clear that the Plus model is using a different CPU generation (Intel-based J4125 Celeron), indicated by the number 7.\n\nNow, why is this worth mentioning? Well, because of several reasons. First, this will not be a major overhaul of the existing 4TB model, and it will, in fact, replace the current model. Second, hardware upgrades will be minimal.\n\nBST151-4T official ENG datasheet\n\nSpeaking of upgrades, the datasheet for this new upcoming model is already available on Synology's site, and we can see that, compared to the BST150, there are no hardware changes, apart from one, the RAM.\n\nThe new BST151-4T model will have, as already mentioned, the same Realtek RTD1619D CPU, as well as a single HAT3300-4T (5400 rpm) disk. **The only real difference compared to the previous generation is double the RAM, maxing out at 2GB.**\n\nThe ports configuration is also unchanged, with **two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports** (one A and another C-type), as well as a **single 1GbE network interface**.\n\nGive the current offering of Synology HAT3300 series drives, we can see that the only 4TB one is in fact a 5400 rpm model.\n\nThe Plus model is currently the only BeeStation that has HAT3310-8T 7200 rpm disk, and while we hoped that would be the case with this new revision of the original, sadly, **the HDD will be a standard HAT3300 5400 rpm disk**.\n\nNow, while some might see this as a disappointment, bear in mind that the non-Plus BeeStation is, in fact, a very capable device, and the RAM bump will certainly help out with overall performance. On top of that, unlike some other desktop NAS models from Synology's portfolio, like the DS lineup, the BeeStation will often end up on a desk or close by, and in that case, having a 7200 rpm device within earshot could be an issue for some.\n\nJust like with any NAS device, getting it is one thing, using it is another, but keeping it at the right spot in the house or workplace is also something to consider.\n\nSynology Bee products powered by Acronis True Image EssentialIf you are a #Synology #BeeDrive or #Beestation user, you can now activate #Acronis True Image Essential 3-year license for free!BLACKVOID.CLUBLuka Manestar\n\nAll Bee products (BeeDrive and BeeStations) support Acronis True Image. Synology offers a 3-year free single license with every Bee device\n\nFinally, let's be honest. This is a single HDD device, so no speed benefits to using multiple HDDs, unlike with some RAID-capable devices. The real difference in HDD speed is about 80 MB/s when comparing the 5400 and 7200 rpm drives. Sure, it might sound a lot, but in fact it's not even 30%.\n\nThe real speed difference when it comes to BSM-driven devices like the BeeStation or DS model with DSM is CPU and RAM. As said, the Intel-based quad-core Celeron is reserved for the Plus model, so the RAM upgrade in this \"Mark II\" will certainly make a difference if we compare it to how other DS NAS devices work with 2GB or more.\n\nThis is a welcome addition for sure in this growing turn-key solution, and we can see that the list of supported packages has also grown over time (since the initial BSM 1.0).\n\nSpeaking of packages, the current BSM 1.5 version is 800 MB in size, almost 40% larger than the initial 1.0 (500 MB). The increase arrived with several packages that have made it into the mix with new features, unlocking more options. For example, Google Photos and iCloud Photos backup and migration.\n\nAnother would be a popular replication service. A function we are familiar with from the DSM Snapshot and Replication package, allowing the BeeStation internal restore points support to utilize snapshots, and prevent data loss.\n\n\n 6550085 Mar 16 22:20 bee-AdminCenter-BSM-armv8-1.5-1015.spk\n 4849923 Mar 16 22:20 bee-Fonts-BSM-armv8-1.1.0-0008.spk\n 13510 Mar 16 22:20 BeePhotos-BSM-armv8-1.5.0-10221.spk\n 5772162 Mar 16 22:20 CloudSync-BSM-armv8-2.7.2-4064.spk\n 890187 Mar 16 22:20 CodecPack-BSM-rtd1619bmango-4.0.0-4051.spk\n 143607 Mar 16 22:20 exFAT-Free-BSM-armv8-7.3.0-0402.spk\n 6231436 Mar 16 22:20 FileStation-BSM-armv8-1.3.5-1751.spk\n 15762116 Mar 16 22:20 HyperBackup-BSM-armv8-4.1.2-4056.spk\n 10834815 Mar 16 22:20 iCloudPd-pkg-BSM-armv8-1.1.0-10094.spk\n 5564931 Mar 16 22:20 MangoDrive-BSM-armv8-1.5.0-11242.spk\n 15140720 Mar 16 22:20 Node.js_v20-BSM-armv8-20.19.5-2014.spk\n 515577 Mar 16 22:20 OAuthService-BSM-armv8-1.1.6-0112.spk\n 12301245 Mar 16 22:20 PHP7.4-BSM-armv8-7.4.33-0140.spk\n 3266029 Mar 16 22:20 QuickConnect-BSM-armv8-1.0.10-0182.spk\n 385793 Mar 16 22:20 ReplicationService-bst151-4t-1.3.0-0427.spk\n 4486243 Mar 16 22:20 ScsiTarget-BSM-armv8-1.0.9-0501.spk\n 8797641 Mar 16 22:20 SMBService-BSM-armv8-4.15.13-2104.spk\n 3147381 Mar 16 22:20 SnapshotReplication-bst151-4t-7.4.6-1709.spk\n 260552760 Mar 16 22:20 SynoDataTransferServer-BSM-rtd1619bmango-1.0.0-0011.spk\n 3062698 Mar 16 22:20 SynologyApplicationService-BSM-armv8-1.8.2-20727.spk\n 44077452 Mar 16 22:20 SynologyDrive-BSM-armv8-3.5.2-26546.spk\n 141081339 Mar 16 22:20 SynologyPhotosBSM-BSM-rtd1619bmango-1.8.3-1115.spk\n 7842962 Mar 16 22:20 SynologyUniversalSearch-BSM-armv8-1.7.0-0742.spk\n 15555482 Mar 16 22:20 UniversalViewer-BSM-armv8-1.4.0-0651.spk\n 1388514 Mar 16 22:20 USBCopy-BSM-armv8-2.2.1-2306.spk\n\nList of packages for the current BST151 model and its BSM 1.5-65918 (April 2026)\n\nThe list and the size of the installation go further with the Plus model, but it is clear that Synology is optimizing the BSM OS as much as possible and unlocking new features over time.\n\nThis new model could also be an announcement of even more capabilities coming out way, and once again proves that Synology is not treating the Bee-series as a temporary experiment.\n\nSynology BeeCamera Mobile - turn your BeeStation Plus into an NVRCan #Synology #CC400W camera and #Beestation Plus offer a decent #surveillance solution with a new #BeeCamera Mobile app?BLACKVOID.CLUBLuka Manestar\n\nOne other proof is the recent BSM 1.5 support for the BeeCamera app that unlocks the BeeStation capabilities as an NVR (only for the Plus model). Considering that the release of the BSM 1.5 version was mid-March, just as when this new BST151 model started to appear in the documentation, it might just mean that this new revision will also be capable of providing surveillance options.\n\nThis, of course, remains to be seen when the official announcement will be made and the product will be available. No official news of the release has been made just yet, but given that the documentation and the OS is avaliable publicly, we can expect an imminent release.\n\nFor now, we can only say that the new revision of the original BeeStation is coming, there are still no multi-disk versions on the horizon, and that Synology is not giving up on the SOHO segment with this very elegant and practical solution.\n\n## Sign up for free, today!\n\nVerified Synology news portal\n\nSubscribe\n\nEmail sent!
