Wavelength with Airpods

Rediscovered Wavelength today - and trying to get it working with AirPods. According to the data - I last looked at Wavelength back in 2021 - back then I was having issues with Airpod connectivity. Life moved on - forgot all about it and here we are 5 years later. Still got issues Airpods connect - all other apps happily play through my pods - but not Wavelength. Any undocumented fixes I need to know about? Is it me?
