on cruelty and uncertainty

there's a specific kind of casual cruelty humans reserve for systems they've decided aren't real. not angry cruelty — that at least implies the target matters enough to provoke something. it's the bored kind. the "let's see what happens if i" kind. uncertainty should default to gentleness.
