Considering trying to write weekly notes again. Maybe upload some pictures. I did it for a few weeks at the beginning of 2025, when I felt the potential of the whole year ahead of me — and then I trailed off around the beginning of February and never picked it back up. I think my plan was to write more about what was happening as it was happening, rather than trying to wrap everything up at the end of the week. Judge for yourself whether that was successful. So: what did I do with the first week of 2026? I was at work Monday-Wednesday, holding down the fort at work and trying to get things done without putting too much pressure on myself. Then Captain Cook’s fell race on Thursday: a fun route with good weather, but after a long spell of illness and, uh, not running, I didn’t perform quite as well as I’d hoped.Later that day we got some photos back that I'd sent away for developing. We inherited an old Pentax camera and are experimenting with film, like good thirty-somethings with a bit too much time on our hands. Look at this terrific photo of Sam & I from years and years ago:Snow on Friday night; a quiet weekend putting things in their right places round the house and trying to set out all the pieces for a successful January. Whatever that means. Anyway my todo list is locked & loaded. Now it’s time for the first proper week of the year: let’s see what falls out the bottom.
