"description": "Season 1 Oh boy — whoever transformed Colin Farrell into Oz for this show deserves some sort of recognition. A lot of the recent DC output has been — odd? Or polished in a way that I just don't like. This strips away so much of that and pushes a deeply flawed set of characters to the forefront. Oz is a monster — that's established very early on. But you still feel for him, you feel for his commitment to his mother (which is revealed to be a near oedipal obsession), for the abuse he's taken and continues to suffer. The show also speaks to how utterly ruthless you have to be to come out on top of anything. A criminal enterprise in this case but there are plenty of business leaders that exhibit the same pathology (real and fictional). I wasn't sold on the Nirvana cover either. Not the placement, the cover itself — it felt too close to the original to properly separate itself and stand on its own. : There's an award for that, right? I don't watch award shoes but I appreciate that the awards presented (usually) mean something to the recipients.",
