"description": "The most depressing part of this movie is that it's set in 2026. Taps the sign. Science fiction is often a warning, but The Running Man feels so close to the present moment that it's a warning that we've chosen not to heed. Massive wealth inequality? We've got that. Free, manipulative media to distract the population? We've got that (and it's only getting worse). Rampant violence? That's been a staple of American life since the country was founded. Privatized healthcare needlessly killing people? Check. Violent opposition to unions? Check. It's the dystopia we're, well, running full speed towards. Ben Richards can't get a job to get his daughter the medicine she needs to help her fight off the flu, so he signs up for the hunger games. There's violence, action, class struggle and assorted tropes you'd expect from a movie pitting an underclass against a ruling class. Colman Domingo is a treasure. I love Josh Brolin, Michael Cera is perfect adding a dash of levity to this and Lee Pace is a welcome addition to everything. More fun than good, but very good at what it sets out to be.",
