"description": "π¨π¨βΎοΈ This manages to surpass The Raid . I didn't expect it to. Sequels rarely surpass the movie(s) that preceded them and they often can't exist without the context provided by those preceding films. But The Raid 2 is that rare exception. It's that good. Rama is back to kick ass β he's freed from the confines of the gang-run apartment building of the first, thrust into undercover work that lands him in prison for years (rather than promised months), saves the life of a fellow convict and finds himself in the employ of said criminal and his father. That's the narrative setup. Rama is still working his way back to his family (their patience is remarkable!) and there are buckets of people to kill. The film uses all of the same mechanics of the first, but with considerably more room to breathe and develop characters given the extended run time. The character development works well enough and the slower sequences help move the story along. They also do nothing to reduce the sheer volume of violent fight sequences which β let's be honest β is what we're here for. The claustrophobic battle in a bathroom stall, the prison yard mud fight, perhaps one of the best car chase scenes I've ever scene and there's hammer girl. Bat man too. It never cuts away from violence, it embraces it. It's coated in it. It revels in it. Give me the ball.",
