"description": "Remember, kids : how do you know a law enforcement officer is corrupt? That they're wearing a badge is a good indicator and, if they're not wearing a badge, that's an even better indicator. She Rides Shotgun is a surprisingly touching movie that focuses in so tightly on its leads that it would all fall apart if they weren't committed or lacked chemistry. Taron Egerton has been on an accomplished tear of late and Ana Sophia Heger turns in incredible performance, allowing them to more than check off the requirements of commitment and chemistry. It's also a uniquely dark way to frame a father daughter roadtrip. This is an at times beautiful, funny and absolutely heartrending story. A criminal father trying to outrun his past shows up to save his daughter from the chaos he can never manage to outrun. Polly gets to know her dad in the worst of circumstances, while he tries to convince her that he's worth knowing and himself that he's doing the right thing. He manages the former and I'm not sure that he does the latter, but I'm convinced he was given the circumstances. All you ever want to do is keep your kids safe. Nate just manages to do that, but goddamn is it a crushing outcome.",
