"description": "She loves me more. A decent enough horror movie if you can get past it show its hand early on that the real horror — the true evil — is generational trauma and abuse. Maybe I'm wrong, but momma being the only one that can see the evil and the tale told that the house that keeps the family safe was built for her grandmother who exhibited the same symptoms gives it away pretty clearly. It's tragic inasmuch as momma's grandfather isolated her grandmother to try and keep her safe and, sadly, sought to treat her symptoms in the only way he knew how rather than seek help and address the root cause. It all could've fallen apart if it wasn't so well acted and the cast had been less committed. I'll concede that I could be reading this wrong and there are little nods at the end like the polaroid sitting on the lawn, a reptilian hand on Sam's shoulder, to make you doubt yourself. But — I think — that just reinforces things. Is Sam starting to exhibit symptoms he's inherited? Or is he just believing his mother after having spent his entire life holding on to the rope?",
